It’s November! That means the clocks have been set back (giving us that extra hour of sleep we desperately need), the cooler weather is making itself known and the holidays are quickly approaching. With Thanksgiving in a few short weeks, we here at Women Auto Know are exploring the various things we give thanks for. This week we’re exploring good luck charms that we believe keep us safe, as we drive hither and fro in our cars on a daily basis.
Millions of people all over the world devote serious belief in good luck charms, items, and talismans. And there is nothing wrong with that at all! We all need a little luck sometimes. People can often be found with crosses, a miniature Buddha or Native American pendants. Some keep a lucky penny hidden somewhere on the dash and dream catchers are popular too.
I’m not sure if I could cover all the lore that exists out there for protection and luck. However, I can educate you about how to stay safe on the road. One of the most important gadgets that we use is the cell phone. What’s the use of a dead phone when you’re broken down alongside an empty highway? Always keep a cell phone charger handy in the car to charge that phone up. Also remember to keep emergency contact information in your phone.
A GREAT way to keep you educated is to download our Women Auto Know iPhone app! We’ve created a way to have your emergency info embedded into the app so you never have to worry if there is no cell service. We’ve also packed in tips and tools, information on what to do in an emergency, DIY Instructions to get you running if your battery needs a jump, or step-by-step instructions on how to change a flat. Of course we’re hoping that you’ll never need it, but it’s always better safe than sorry! The “What a Woman Auto Know” iPhone app is ready when you need it, in the shop or on the road.
Emergencies and accidents are what they are, simply because they’re unexpected. This app is great because in lieu of an emergency kit, it’s the automotive reference manual for those who have never opened the hood of their car. It has a step-by-step guide for changing your tire or a fuse, topping off your oil and other things you can do to help you in an emergency situation. Also it gives you a place to st
ore all of your emergency information, so if you need a phone number, VIN number, insurance info or the number for your regular shop, it’s all within your reach.
By having the “What a Woman Auto Know” iPhone App it makes it easier for you to function when help isn’t immediately available and helps you keep your focus, so you don’t run around in circles screaming.
For those who believe in charms, let’s keep hoping that they always work! Sometimes luck doesn’t always go in your favor, so educate and prepare yourself. Your friends and family will always wish you happy and safe travels. Keep them happy and stress-free by knowing your car inside and out.
If you’re interested in this app, we’re offering it as a perk in our IndieGoGo campaign! It’s also available on iTunes, but a donation works ten-fold in keeping Women Auto Know running.
We love hearing from our supporters! Do you have a lucky charm? Tell us about your charm! Or even better, let us know if you have our app! We’d love to know what you use it for!
